Achievement
Operate CAD Software
Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform electronics engineering tasks.
And the skills you'll learn
What attendees learn
Due to time and software constraints this workshop will not focus on teaching specific tools and features but will give an overview of various 3D CAD techniques and how they can be used to create more complex models from simple building blocks.

Senior Product Designer at Johno Ellison Design & Engineering
I am a UK design engineer who specialises in Solidworks 3D CAD modelling. I have a wide range of Design Engineering experience covering areas including mechanisms, 3D printing, materials selection, rapid prototyping and other design and manufacturing techniques. I have fifteen years of Solidworks experience and hold a First Class Honours degree in Sustainable Product Design. I particularly enjoy working on projects which solve mechanical problems using innovative ideas and mechanisms.
About
During this introduction to 3D CAD we will run through the building of a Lego minifigure using SolidWorks, one of the world's most popular 3D CAD programs. We will step through the modelling of the six unique parts - head, hands, arms, torso, hips and legs - and use these to demonstrate the capabilities of CAD. As not all participants might have access to the SolidWorks software this workshop will be more of a display of the potential of CAD than about teaching specific techniques.
