We don't just think outside the box. We think about the box.

The Cardboard Guys was born after witnessing the immense amount of furniture thrown away. Upon further research, we discovered that 9.8 million tons of furniture waste accumulates in U.S. landfills each year. We thought that was simply too much. So, utilizing our backgrounds in packaging, manufacturing, and entrepreneurship, we set out to build a set of furniture that didn’t contribute the problem but instead helped reduce it. Cardboard is the perfect material for such a task. Plus, who doesn’t love cardboard?!

Two Cal Poly Industrial Technology students, collaborated to start a custom skateboard company. We make and design personalized boards specific to each buyer. If you're looking to have a one of a kind deck SLO Cruizers is the place to find it.

Designed a manufacturing process for high quality skateboard decks

We designed a manufacturing process that included sourcing high-quality hard rock maple veneers from Canada and constructing a 16-ton press that we used to bond the layers of wood for each skateboard. We then used various jigs and fixtures to replicate the same board profile that evolved into the standard shape for SLO Cuizers.

Industrial Technology

I was accepted into the Industrial Technology program at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where I studied many different aspects of the manufacturing and technology industries. There were two many focuses of IT, the first was Manufacturing and Production. We went through many areas of knowledge behind the lean principles of manufacturing as well as all the additive and subtractive processes. The second large area was design, with a heavy focus on package design.
