After the 2008 economic crisis and reduction in search demand, shifted the business model to time based talent consulting with an emphasis of complimenting the internal executive talent acquisition function. Marketed service to large companies including PepsiCo, AMEX, VISA, Cisco, Microsoft, Vanguard, Viacom and others. This new business focus created insights into the challenges faced by internal talent teams and for companies including the lack of a consistent way to express work demand at the skill level, and a consistent way to understand the skill quality of those who work. These consulting projects led to the development of a new network vision. TalentSky, Inc. which was formed in September 2013 in response to the insights gained during the previous years in consulting.

Rick Devine and I were recruited by Tom Siebel to create one of the first internal executive talent acquisition functions within the technology industry. At the time, most all searches were conducted by large search firms such as Heidrick & Struggles, Spencer Stuart, Korn Ferry etc. Tom Siebel recognized the importance of talent as a core competency of Siebel System and recruited a former senior partner at Heidrick, Rick, to establish this internal function at the company. I was Rick’s right hand at the time and partnered with him in building this function. This was prelude to the creation of the Executive Talent Acquisition function that was later established under the leadership of Gab Toledano, EVP HR at Siebel.

In 1999 Rick Devine and I were considered one of the most successful teams at Heidrick & Struggles. During that same time, the equity market was on fire and Internet Capital Group (Nasdaq: ICGE) was the leader of Business to Business E-Commerce, structured as an investment fund that provided exposure to over 70 companies. Ken Fox and Walter Buckley, founders of ICG, had a vision for building internal best practice to support the ICG Network of Companies. The first function was Management Recruiting and Rick and I were recruited by Ken to ICG pre-IPO. In the next twelve months, we built a global search function with offices in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific, a total of seven teams and forty professionals. The ICG Management Recruiting Function was the largest internal search function in the industry at the time as was able to conduct over fifty concurrent searches.
